About the coalition

IDAY Nigeria Chapter was established in June 2008 with WANGO Africa serving as its lead promoter. IDAY Nigeria is a member of several networks on education, including Civil Society Action Coalition of Education (CSACEFA), Federation of Africa Women Educationalists (FAWE), and Education for All (EFA) Campaign.

It has over 40 registered members as at 2010.

Strategic goals

To increase the awareness and recognition for education as a tool for empowerment in development.

Major achievements so far

-          Formation of a coalition of 40 NGOs working on education,
-          Partnership with WANGO in the launch of Zero Illiteracy Project (ZIP),
-          Recognition and support by World Bank Country Office in Nigeria

Key annual activities:

- June 16: celebration of the International Day of the Africa Child
- Online group networking among over 100 NGOs
