The Global Action Week (GAW)

The Global Action Week (GAW) is an event organised every year at the end of April by members of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE).

As a network of organisations involved in promoting Education for All, IDAY strongly encourages participation of its members in the GAW.

This year’s event will be coordinated with the 1GOAL: Education for All campaign, a GCE - FIFA 2010 World Cup initiative. The idea is to make use of the formidable attention drawn on Africa by this major football competition to raise the issue of education for all.

Mobilising personalities of sports, political and associative world, the campaign aims at leaving education for all as a legacy of the 2010 World Cup.

In Belgium, IDAY-International is taking the lead to organise the 2010 activities. We are now in the process of defining the programme of activities with the other organisations participating.
For 2010, GCE-Belgium will size the opportunity of the 1Goal campaign and try to create partnership with football personalities and organisations to support the event. At the same time, IDAY is keen on supporting already-existing initiatives using football as leverage for education, such as Diambars.
